MOSSVILLE ~ Robert Eugene Smitty Smith, 74, of 10801 North Krauses Lane, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born May 3, 1936 in Peoria to Elmer and Zita (Bupp) Smith, he married Shirley Taylor.  He later married Carol E. (Grant) Linneman on February 14, 1991 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Robert Earl Smith of Massachusetts; two daughters, April (Dan) Riggs of Rockford and Sherry (Rod) Emmons of Manito; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Elmer Smith, Jr. of Peoria and Jackie Lee Smith of Pekin; two sisters, Margaret Petri and Mary (Joe) Shallenberger, both of Pekin; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and one son, Don Smith, preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Robert worked out of Steamfitters Local 353 in Peoria from 1968 to 1998 as a pipefitter.  He last worked for OBrien Bros., Inc. in Peoria.

He was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916 and the Pekin Eagles Aerie #1869.  He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Bob Herath will officiate.  Private burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
