NORTH PEKIN ~ Joyce Arlene Blakley, 74, of North Pekin, formerly of Cornell, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
She was born January 28, 1943 in Peoria to Willard Kamp and Frieda Henrietta (Peplow) Marfell. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James McCartney; two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet (Dan) Martindale of North Pekin, Julie Messimer and Jean Farrel, both of TX; one son, Bill “Hosbrough” McCartney of Peoria; three grandchildren, Josh Martindale, Adam Messimer and Hannah McCartney; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Boylan of Peoria; two brothers, Denny (Mary) Marfell of East Peoria and her twin, Jerry (Judy) Marfell of TX and daughter-in-law, Valerie McClanahan of Cornell.
Joyce had owned and operated Taco Gringo in Champaign for three years, last working at R.H. Donnelly Printing in Pontiac, retiring in 2007.
She loved reading her Bible, helping animals, listening to George Jones and attending his concerts. Joyce had worked hard her whole life and enjoyed peace and quiet in the end.
Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Spring Bay Cemetery. Pastor John Vaughn will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements have entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
