Glynn L. Goodin
1/24/1952 - 5/9/2017
NORTH PEKIN ~ Glynn Lee Goodin, 65, of North Pekin, ended the battle that he so courageously fought against ill health for most of the last twenty-five years at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria, where he had been a patient in the ICU for the last 6 ½ weeks.
Born January 24, 1952 in Pekin to William Warren “Bill” and Doris E. (Hull) Goodin, he married Connie Robitski on December 22, 1998 in Lacon. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Christian Chism of Long Beach, CA; one daughter, Gaylynn Goodin of Canton; four grandsons, Trent Pollitt of Canton, Ronlee Chism, Addison Chism, and Christian Chism, all of Pekin; two granddaughters, Tiffany Pollitt of Canton and Ariel Chism of Pekin; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Billie Jackson and Janie Spelbring, both of Marquette Heights; three brothers, Bob (Kathy) Goodin of Marquette Heights, Steve (Debbie) Goodin of Pekin, and Scott (Kathy) Goodin of Birnamwood, WI; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Garry Goodin; and one granddaughter, Tara Pollitt.
Glynn worked for many years as a boilermaker, retiring early in 2005 when health issues became too difficult for him to continue.
He loved his wife, his family, and his friends, and enjoyed spending time with all of them more than anything he ever did. Whether the occasion was special or not he always did his best to make it seem that it was with his witty sense of humor.
Glynn loved the outdoors, was an avid gun enthusiast, and was always ready to go fishing, hunting, or for a ride on his Harley – things that made it hard sometimes to imagine how sick he actually was. He faced each day with a special strength that some of us will never know, and for that, Glynn will always be remembered as being a loyal, generous, fun-loving, courageous man, and will be missed be everyone that knew him.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. James McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4234 North Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL 61614.
