Mildred Jean Lowe Kohlbacher

PEKIN ~ Mildred Jean Lowe Kohlbacher, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin.

Born September 27, 1932 in Woodland, Missouri to Leo Truman and Anna Mildred (Bittleson) Foster, she married Marion Ray Lowe on December 24, 1951 in Palmyra, Missouri.  She later married Kenneth Karl Kohlbacher on September 15, 1985 in Pekin.  He died October 13, 1985.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marjorie Lee Dorenberger; and two brothers, Robert William Foster and Earl Clifton Foster.

Surviving are one daughter, Glenda Hollis of Pekin; two sons, Paul (Phyllis) Lowe of Waynesville, Missouri and Gary (Kelly) Lowe of Walker, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Kristi) Lowe of Springfield, Missouri, Mindy (Bryce) Sillyman of Knoxville, Tennessee, Melissa Deppert of Tremont, Lori (Philip) Brown of Pekin, Holly (Stephan) Quarles of Berkley, California, Samantha (William) Thompson and Jackson Lowe, both of Walker, Missouri; thirteen great-grandchildren, Alec, Shiloh, Andrew, Abby, Grant, Jacob, Nathan, Timothy, Clayton, Ayden, Isla, Easton, and Maxwell; one brother, Leo Ray “Sonny” (Patricia) Foster of Palmyra, Missouri; one sister, Patricia Ann (Dennis) Lawler of Brownsville, Texas; many nieces and nephews; and she was expecting the birth of a great-grandchild in December.

A homemaker, Jean had worked as a bookkeeper at Robey Robinson Lumber in Monroe City, Missouri and later worked at Carp’s Department Store in Pekin.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin.

Jean enjoyed shopping and being with her family and friends.  She was a 1950 graduate of Palmyra High School.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Hank Anderson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
