EAST PEORIA ~ Carol Grace John, 83, of East Peoria, passed away at 10:57 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017 at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria. She was formerly of Pekin.

Born August 5, 1934 in Peoria to Cecil O. and Florence M. (DePrato) Parrott, she married William S. Potter, they later divorced. She later married Armand P. John on May 15, 1993 in Peoria. He died July 26, 1998 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert J. Leffer.

Surviving are three daughters, Kim (Joe) Wenzel of Bartonville, Cynthia “Cindy” Parkinson and Cheryl “Cheri” Johnson, both of East Peoria; one step-son, Greg (Christine) Marlett of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Chantelle (Gary) Watson, of TX, Kasey Moore of Peoria, Chad (Leann) Wenzel of OH, Michelle (Mike) Marteness, Anita (Chris) Brown and Robert Damm, all of Pekin, Shawn (Lynn) Potter of Forest City, Tiffani Potter and Alex Johnson, both of East Peoria: many step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Manual High School and attended Illinois Central College. She had worked for Burkland Distributors Inc. in East Peoria, retiring after 36 years of service.

Carol was a 50 plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Creve Coeur Chapter #946 and a two-time past Worthy Matron of Peoria Chapter #917.

She enjoyed crocheting and loved singing and playing games on the internet.

Carol was a member of Second Baptist Church in Peoria.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Duane Surels will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
