Marilyn H. Messmer

PEKIN ~ Marilyn Hope Messmer, 82, of Pekin, passed away at 4:39 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Born November 6, 1935 in Pekin to Ora and Emma (Peters) Denning, Sr., she married Duane E. Messmer on June 12, 1960 in Peoria.  He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Brad (Marilyn) Messmer of Pekin; one daughter, Michelle Messmer of Pekin; two grandchildren, Braden Messmer and Bronwyn Messmer and three brothers, Clayton Denning, Max Denning and John Denning, Sr., all of Pekin.

She was preceded in death her parents and four brothers.

A 1954 graduate of Pekin Community High School, she was a homemaker.

Marilyn was a longtime Dance teacher, first with Dentino’s in downtown Pekin and then operated her own studio in Manito in the early 1960’s.  She also had taught dance at the high school in Manito.

She loved music and shared being a huge Peyton Manning fan with her daughter.

Her graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.  Elder Doug Meaker will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
