Karen (Button) Stocke

PEKIN ~ Karen Lou (Button) Stocke, 62, of Pekin, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Friday, February 9. 2018 at her home.

Born March 19, 1955 in Peoria to William Henry and Hila (Risius) Button, Jr., she married Mike Stocke on December 21, 1990 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kris Lillie of Pekin; one son, Patrick (Kelsey) Lillie of Springfield; two step-sons, Jeff Stocke and Ryan (Jill) Stocke, both of Pekin; one grandson, Ronan Lillie of Springfield; six step-grandchildren, Cody Stocke of Pekin, Nicci (Edwards) Buss of Havana, Codie Edwards of Pekin, Ryleigh, Ava and Owen Stocke, all of Pekin; one step-grandson, Enzo Buss of Havana; five sisters, Kathy Morton of Metamora, Sharon Sellers and Maggie (Mike) King, both of Peoria and Melody Chambers of Creve Coeur; three brothers, William (Cheryl) Button of Mapleton, Ronald (Cindy) Button of Creve Coeur and Michael (Lori) Button of Farmington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Paul Button and one sister, Teresa Smith.

Karen started a nursing career in Pekin that spanned 35 years. She currently was the Vice President of Contract Initiation at Advanced Correctional Healthcare in Peoria.

She loved to bowl, go horseback riding and line dancing, where she was commonly known as “Thumper”.  She was a very strong supporter of Special Olympics, where she was her daughter’s biggest cheerleader.

Karen had a big heart, a contagious laugh, a giving soul and was the glue that held her family together. She loved her family and was happiest about being a new grandma.

Her memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Wes Stockham will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
