Fae F. Thacker

PEKIN ~ Fae Ferrel Thacker, 92, of Pekin, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.

Born April 9, 1925 in Halfway, Kentucky to Slaughty M. and Laura (Willoughby) Thacker, he married Pauline B. Gentile on July 5, 1947 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl (Richard VanAntwerp) Thacker, Bonnie (Greg) Sheppard and Anita (Randall) Diekhoff, all of Pekin; six grandchildren, Jamie Brady, Sean Juergens, Ryan (Courtney) Sheppard, Jeana (Rob) Lynall, Richie (Jennie) VanAntwerp and Ashley (Aaron) Martin; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis Juergens, Landon Martin, Isla Martin, Noah Lynall, Thea VanAntwerp and Emlinn VanAntwerp.

He was preceded in death his parents; one daughter, Linda Juergens; one brother and three sisters.

A World War II United States Army veteran, Fae was a life member of William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in Pekin.  He also was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916 and Knights of Columbus Archbishop Schlarman Council #3507 in Pekin.

He worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 42 years, retiring in 1982 as an electrical maintenance foreman.

Fae enjoyed playing golf, fishing, being outside gardening and doing yard work.  He also enjoyed woodworking.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.  Father Michael Andrejek will be the celebrant.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory, with the recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m.   Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
