Garlen V. Jungers

NORTH PEKIN ~ Garlen V. Jungers, 81, of North Pekin, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at his home.

Born May 11, 1936 in Vienna to Fred M. and Ethel (Willis) Jungers, he married C-Etta Barnard on November 22, 1956 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are four children, David (Pam Schrader) Barnard of Pekin, Darrell (Freda) Barnard of Florence, Alabama, Sheila (James) Douglas of Bear Creek, Alabama and Michael (Diane) Barnard of North Pekin; eight grandchildren, including Buster Bailey and Joshua Barnard; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Retha Wheeler of Delavan.  He also leaves a sister-in-law, Rosie (Frank Coatney) Lemons of North Pekin and a brother-in-law, Byford (Doris) Barnard, Sr. of West Frankfurt and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; two brothers-in-law and one of his favorite nieces, Ruth Anne Jager.

Garlen retired from Williams as a foreman in 1996.  In all, he had 42 years of combined service with Corn Products, Pekin Energy and Williams.  He also worked a second job for 15 years with D & J Tree Services.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but gardening was his favorite.

Garlen attended McArthur Drive Baptist Church in North Pekin.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Dr. Bobby Barnhill will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
