James R. Valentine

PEORIA ~ James Rudolph Valentine, 50, of Peoria, passed away at 12:17 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home.
Born April 12, 1968 in Pekin to Lucius Rudolph and Delia Mozell (Miller) Valentine, he married Lisa Anne Oliphant on February 14, 2005 in Peoria. She survives.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa Valentine of Peoria; his father, Rudy Valentine of Pekin; one brother, Patrick Valentine of Pekin; two sisters, Diane (Robyn) Gerdes of Canton and Brenda (James) Putney of Harrison, Ohio; four nephews; and two nieces.
His mother preceded him in death on December 27, 2010.
A 1987 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he received his Associates Degree from Illinois Central College in East Peoria.
James worked for Kroger for 30 years as a third shift stocker mostly at the East Peoria store, last working in 2017. He currently was working for Schnucks at Knoxville Crossing in Peoria as a third shift stocker. He also had worked for Boyd Kilpatrick in Bartonville as a laborer for many years.
He was a member the United Food & Commercial Workers Local 536.
James enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was always there helping others when they needed it.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Creve Coeur Christian Church, 101 South Thorncrest Avenue in Creve Coeur. The Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
