Danny Joe McQueen

DELAVAN ~ Danny Joe McQueen, 68, of Delavan, passed away at 8:09 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his residence.

Born April 18, 1950 in Shelbyville to Alva B. and Velma I. (Helton) McQueen, he married Christina F. “Chris” (Buttke) Bushong.  She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Tony (Cori) Bloom of Marquette Heights, David Pfeiffer of Tennessee and Jeff (Lauri) Pfeiffer of Pekin; one daughter, Bobbi Lumpkin of Green Valley; three step-sons, Michael Bushong of Manito, Jake Bushong of East Peoria, Pierre Bushong of Bloomington; one step-daughter, Venessa (Zackk Holstlaw) Driver of Manito; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Brandy, Katie, Alex, Heather, Amy, Andrew, Riley, Laila and Skylynn and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Velma Jolynn McQueen; one step-son, Wesley Shane Driver and several brothers and sisters.

Joe served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a longtime mechanic for Air Liquid E. in Mapleton and retired from their successor company, Matheson Tri-Gas.

Joe loved being outdoors, splitting wood, working on old cars and always enjoyed helping someone out.  He was a member of Delavan American Legion Post 382 and Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 in Pekin.  He also was a member of Illinois State Rifle Association, National Rifle Association and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau.

His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.  Pastor John Vaughn will officiate.  Military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and Delavan American Legion.  There will be no visitation.  Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
