Wanatha Dehne

EAST PEORIA ~ Wanatha Mae Dehne, 92, of East Peoria, passed away at 2 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Peoria Heights.
Born October 13, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Mary (Yearian) Davis, she married Frank O'Dell Shelton.  She later married Jacob F. Dehne, Sr. on March 10, 1972 in Herrin.  He passed away February 27, 1998.  She also was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Shelton; two children, Jake Dehne, Jr. and Renee Dehne; four step-children, Norman Dehne, Merle Dehne, Dorothy Banum and Idris Williams; two brothers, Roy and Charles Davis; and one grandchild.
Surviving are nine children, Jim L. Davis of East Peoria, Frank E. Shelton of East Peoria, Froella Ward of Peoria, Jaylene Casey of Oklahoma, Ronnis Dehne of Dunlap, Delbert Dehne of East Peoria, Herbert Dehne of Chillicothe, Tracy Dehne of East Peoria and Carol Jordon of Peoria; five step-children, Rosetta Depperman of Brimfield, Mildred Taetz of Missouri, Linda Belden of Marquette Heights, Freda Foster of East Peoria and Melvin Dehne of Pekin.; fifty grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Wanatha was of the Baptist faith.  She had worked as a housekeeper for the Holiday Inn in East Peoria until their closing.  She had also worked in laundry services for Washington Christian Village for many years, retiring in 1985.  Following her retirement, she enjoyed driving an ice cream truck.
She loved going to garage sales and enjoyed being involved with her family.
Her memorial visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  Immediately following visitation, a graveside service will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.  Pastor John Vaughn will officiate.  
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
