James L. Estes

PEKIN ~ James L. Estes, 84, of Pekin, passed away at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home.
Born February 15, 1934 in Harrisburg to Earl and Mabel (Howell) Estes, he married Linda Blanch on December 1, 1952 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Angela (Mike) Johnson of Pekin; five sons, James (Julie) Estes of Morton, Steve (Lynn) Estes of Chillicothe, Larry Estes, Tim (Sandi) Estes and Tom (Denise) Estes, all of Pekin; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren, Celine and Jennifer Estes.
James attended Pekin First Church of God.
He was in management at Caterpillar, Inc., retiring after 42 years in 1993 as a Service Engineer.
He was a musician with his own country-western band, playing all over Central Illinois for thirty years. He could fix anything that was broken. He was a big sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
