Ryan D. Ashby

NORTH PEKIN ~ Ryan D. Ashby, 47, of North Pekin, passed away at 4:49 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born August 16, 1971 in Pekin to John Howard and Peggy A. (Bargmann) Ashby, he married Kimberly “Kim” Kinser on October 16, 2004 in East Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Michael Fisher of Pekin; one son, Michael Ashby of Pekin; his daughter, Lindsey Dixon of Pekin; one brother, Rodney Ashby of Pekin; five sisters, Robin (Tom) Conlin of Marquette Heights, Sherrill (Andrew) Kolvek of Morton, Beth (Gary) Geier of Washington, Jennifer (David) Harris of Pekin and Kelley (Jeff) Bradford of Morton and many nieces and nephews.  He also leaves his mother-in-law, Nettie Elliott of Pekin and a sister-in-law, Tamera (Ian) Kemp of Tampa, Florida

He was preceded in death by his father; one daughter, MaKayla Jo Ashby on February 15, 2000 and one sister, Erica Fisher.

Ryan was a 1990 graduate of Pekin Community High School and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

He last worked in logistics for G & D Integrated in Morton.  He previously had worked at Pekin Insurance as an underwriter in the Property & Casualty Department.  He was also the proud owner of Ashby Snow Removal Service.

Ryan was an outdoorsman at heart.  He enjoyed fishing, shooting and 4 wheeling.  He also enjoyed gardening and loved his dogs.   He was a member of the Tremont Sportsman’s Club, the National Rifle Association and the Illinois State Rifle Association. 

In spite of fighting a childhood illness from Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis with multiple medical complications, Ryan was a man of devotion and integrity admired by many.  He will be remembered as a kind and compassionate soul that was focused on family and friends.  #toughasaryno

He was a member of East Peoria Church of Christ.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Evangelist David Cordry will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
