Michael S. Kyle

MANITO ~ Michael S. Kyle, 77, of Manito, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at his home.

Born December 11, 1941 in Pekin to Bruce B. and Josephine B. (Bodi) Kyle, he married Roma Batchelder on June 30, 1962 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Leland Kyle, Eric Kyle and Bodie (Chris) Kyle, all of Pekin; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two nieces, Roma (Donald) Miller of Canton and Denice (Ben) Richardson of Manito, who helped care for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, David.

For nearly sixty years, Mike was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #34.  Twenty-five of those years were spent working at American Distillery.  After its closing, he worked for many electrical companies last working for P.L. Electric for thirteen years, retiring in 2003.

He served as Vice President and on the Examining Board for his Local #34, where he also taught apprenticeships.  He enjoyed boating, flower gardening and he was the “go-to guy” if anyone needed something fixed.

His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Emmanuel’s Warehouse Food Bank, 201 South Broadway Street, Manito, IL 61546 or to the Tazewell County Veterans Assistance Commission, 17 South Capitol Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
