Jean I. Havran

PEKIN ~ Jean Innes Havran, 91, of Pekin, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Pekin Manor.
Born September 24, 1927 in Reinbeck, Iowa to James Irwin and Julia (Cole) Innes, she married Lester Havran on December 6, 1951 in Reinbeck, Iowa. He died August 17, 2013 in Toledo, Iowa. Also preceding her in death are her parents; an infant son, James Mark, and two sisters, Mary Helen and Patricia (Robert) McCabe.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Laura) Havran of Salem, South Carolina and Randall (Roleen) Havran of Jasper, Georgia; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; Sister, Judith (Merritt) Pitcher, five nephews and a special niece, Beth Cory.
She is one of the last members of the James Innes family who came from Scotland in 1872 and settled in Grant Township, Tama County, Iowa. She lived in South Dakota from 1928-1937. She graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1944, attended Morse Radio School in Omaha, NE and worked as a Morse Radio operator in San Francisco, CA in 1947. She returned to Iowa worked as a bookkeeper for Garwin Lumber Company, the IRS in Des Moines, IA, Ward Lumber in Marshalltown, IA, and Farm Service in Garwin, IA where she retired in August 1997.
She was a member of the Garwin United Methodist Church where she was treasurer for 20 years. She taught Sunday school and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Conestoga DAR and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She moved to East Peoria, IL in 2004 and became a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
There will be no services or visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring in Garwin with burial of ashes in Garwin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Presbyterian Church, 8607 State Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615.
