PEKIN ~ Barbara M. “Barb” Murray, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 11:32 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at her residence.
She was born November 16, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Clarence and Pauline (Woodall) Minton. Her parents preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Jean Minton and Phyllis Johnson and one brother, Gerald Minton.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra (Mark) Stovall of Pekin and Vicki (Dale) Kagey of Houston, Texas; one son, Thomas Murray of Pekin; ten grandchildren, Jason (Sherry Antes) Bohannan of Pekin, Shaun (Jennifer) Mankle of Germantown Hills, Nicholas (Chrissy) Bohannan of Washington, Tiffany (Matt) Almendarez of Wharton, Texas, Angie (Eric) Santschi of Georgetown, Texas, Elizabeth Stovall of Peoria, Brandon Morey of Indianapolis, Caleb Murray of Morton, Brionna Murray of Pekin and Aden Kagey of Houston; sixteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Darrell Minton of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Barb previously worked as a waitress and cook at Lum’s in Peoria for over 10 years. She also had worked at the Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria.
Barb loved the Lord first and foremost in everything and attended Bridgeway Community Church in Pekin.
She enjoyed sports and formerly played baseball and basketball. She loved working crossword puzzles, Sudoku’s and crypto quotes. She was also known as “Nana” and loved rocking her babies.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Kim Bacon and Pastor Linsy Stockham will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
