Jack Harvey

Creve Coeur ~ Jack Paul Harvey, 72, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born October 9, 1946 in Lacon to Clifford Charles and Bertha Ellen (Faye) Harvey, he married Pamela on June 12, 1966 at First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. She survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, Jack (Kara) Harvey, II of Creve Coeur and Scott (Kelly Tonkin) of Pekin; one grandson, Andrew Harvey of Creve Coeur; one sister, Sharon (JT) Haycraft of Lowpoint and three brothers, Clifford (Pat) Harvey, Carl Harvey, both of Lacon and Charles (Cheerful) Harvey of Hennepin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gloria Zilm, and Josephine Smith and sister-in-law, Joyce Harvey.

He served in the United States Army from 1966-1969.

Jack worked for 30 years at Caterpillar, Inc., retiring as maintenance painter.  He had also worked as a painter out of Painters Local 157.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, boater, and golfer. Jack was proud of his golf hole-in-one at Aberdeen, near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on hole five in September, 2007.  He was a member of Frank Nicol Lodge 1170, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Creve Coeur, as well as the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.

Jack was also an active member and past 2016 Monarch in Abbas Grotto in East Peoria. He was a member of Grottos of North America, serving as Supreme Council District Deputy; member of GAO Grotto in Danville and a member of Central States Grotto, serving as Second Vice President. He was a longtime Shriner in Peoria and spent time as a clown.  

Jack was a past member, former chief and Emergency Medical Technician on the Creve Coeur Fire Department. He was also a long-time member of Creve Coeur Christian Church.

Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Abbas Grotto in East Peoria, with a celebration of life gathering held following until 4 p.m. His graveside service will then be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield officiated by Pastor John Plunkett. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2078, to benefit the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, 1507 Meadows Ave., East Peoria, Illinois 61611.
