John R. Stangle

GOODFIELD ~ John Robert Stangle, 58, of Goodfield, passed away at 5:38 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers Emergency Room.

Born July 19, 1960 in Nova Scotia, Canada to Melvin and Mary (Weis) Stangle, Sr., he married Laura Nasman on August 30, 2014 in Morton.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Matt (Stephanie Hicks) Stangle and Nate (Melissa Lamar) Stangle, both of Mascoutah; one daughter, Adrianna Stangle of Wood River; three stepsons, Ryan (Alanna) Wizieck of Normal, Christian Wizieck of Pine Mountain, Georgia and Joseph Wizieck of Princeville; seven grandchildren, Bailey, Blain, Sylvia, Marlee, Chris, Armeta and A.J.; three brothers, Melvin (Teresa) Stangle, Jr. of Belleville, Michael (Carole) Stangle of St. Peters, Missouri and Jim (Teri) Stangle of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and one sister, Mary (Steve) Miller of Belleville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jacob Stangle.

John worked for Edward Rose & Sons in Peoria as a grounds manager since June 2014, last working Friday.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, where he played on the church’s men’s softball team.  John was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Chiefs.  He also enjoyed doing weather reports for the apartment complex he worked for.

John was centered on his family and was also fond of his dogs, Edmonds and Sparky.

His memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton.  Pastor Jeff Anderson will officiate.  Visitation will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday at the church.  Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
