John D. Novotny
8/4/1973 - 6/7/2019
PEORIA ~ John Daniel Novotny, 45, of Peoria, passed away Friday afternoon, June 7, 2019 in Chillicothe.
John, named so in honor of his late uncle, was born and raised in Chicago where he amassed a great number of friends who loved him for his zest for all things in life. John wasn’t a wallflower but mixed and mingled with folks from all walks of life. He was quick to laugh at your jokes and tell you one. He never wanted to miss out on the fun, not that he could because he was always the first invited to all occasions. A celebration just wasn’t a celebration without him. Although John’s real passion was writing, he never turned down an invitation to play any sport or game. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle and taking long walks. John will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Preceding him are his mother, Barbara, and grandmother, Margaret, whom both loved and nurtured him all their lives. These were bonds that were hard to be broken, and we find comfort in knowing that they are now reunited together with our Lord.
John was survived by his girlfriend, whom he loved very much, Cindy Mason of Chillicothe, one brother, Stanley of Chicago, Uncles Bobby and Raymond, Aunts Karen, Mary Ann and Diane. Cousin Margaret, and her children Ashley, Ray, Jr., Mathew and Michael, and many aunts, uncles and cousins around Chicagoland, Michigan, Indiana, Texas and California that will all miss him very much.
He was baptized a Southern Baptist and learned the ways of the Lord at Journey Church in East Peoria.
His graveside funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Pastor Eric Dupree will officiate. Close family and friends are encouraged to attend. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 4234 North Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61614.
