S. Christine Ritchason

PEKIN ~ S. Christine “Chris” Ritchason, 91, of Pekin, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at UnityPoint Health in Pekin. 

Born December 26, 1927 in Lions City, Arkansas to Allen P. and Pina Elizabeth (Wages) Moody, she married William O. “Os” Ritchason on March 26, 1948 in Pekin.  He died September 23, 2000 in Pekin.  She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda C. Ritchason on April 5, 1960 in Peoria; her daughter-in-law, Susan K. Ritchason and two sisters, Floy M. Smith and Florence Janssen.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald S. (Diane) Ritchason and Scott A. “Squat” Ritchason, both of Pekin; one grandson, Michael S. (Rachel) Ritchason of Pekin; three great-grandchildren, Ella Ritchason, Liam Ritchason and Ben Ritchason; one brother, Allen P. (Jerrie) Moody, Jr. of Bishop, California and three sisters, Allene M. DeWald, Peggy J. Hunter, both of Sacramento, California and Lyn T. (Robert) Templeton of Greenwood, Indiana. 

Chris worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 23 years, retiring in 1983 as a secretary in office services in East Peoria.

She was a member of Pekin Bible Church, where she was a longtime greeter and attended the Bible class.  She was a former Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, Ladies chorus member and a past president and member of the Mary/Martha Circle at the church.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society.  She loved watching the Chicago Bulls and was a great St. Louis Cardinals fan.  She enjoyed going to auctions and going to Minnesota with her husband fishing.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Chad Nightingale will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
